  • Born in Bathurst 1963, parents Naomi and Jack Smith.
  • Family have been on the land since 1838. I have owned land in Evans Plains and Forbes and know firsthand the trials and tribulations of agriculture in Australia.  I have an in depth knowledge of fat lamb, fat cattle, wool production plus cropping and feedloting.
  • Have conducted Antique auctions on a weekly basis all over Australia since 1990, having offered between 400 and 1000 items each week, I can assure you that very few if any has more knowledge or experience.

  • Educated Scots College completed HSC 1981. Studied agricultural and farm mechanics.
  • Completed stock and station and also auctioneers courses at Charlesturt University (Hawkesbury) 1982.
  • Completed real-estate in 1986 held those respective licenses to date.
  • Started with Peter Stephens of Masters Stephens in November 1981, worked in Bathurst and Blayney sale yards and districts as stock and station agent and gained experience as an auctioneer in both livestock and general.
  • Fully Licensed Stock and Station Agent.
  • In 1983 started with Denis Tyson of Tyson and Co also selling in Bathurst and Blayney.
  • In 1984 moved to Young with Elders Pastoral selling in Young livestock markets and district, later transferred to Boorowa and left Elders to start a stock agency at Binalong with friend and fellow auctioneer John Clark.
  • Then selling in Harden, Yass and Boorowa.
  • In 1986 sold half share to John Clark and purchased Campion and Co in Bathurst, operating in Bathurst and Blayney.
  • I conducted that business as a sole trader and later with David Barnes. Sold my share to David Barnes due to buyer defaults and poor sheep and cattle markets, to concentrate on weekly antique auctions held all over Australia as far as Perth, Mt Isa and Cairns. These weekly Auctions continue to date.
  • 2012 worked with Plasto and Co stock and stain agents of Wellington.  Working as Auctioneer, selling fat cattle, store cattle and fat sheep at NSW largest cattle centre, Dubbo.

Rick Hoolihan

  • Educated at St Gregorys’ College Campbelltown and All Saint’s College Bathurst for secondry School.
  • Started working on the family farm after school and had some time at Mt Lambie Service Station.
  • Moved to South coast and spent 7 years working at the CRT Store in Nowra. Trained in animal husbandry products, pastures and electric fencing (Local area had a strong dairy influence and a surprisingly large sheep + beef cattle industry).
  • Currently employed at Fish & Sons Rural Supplies.
  • I have a keen intrest in the family farm which is at Rydal, where we run Sheep and Cattle. We run commercial and stud Speckle Park cattle and a Corriedale sheep Stud. I am currently the Secretary of the NSW Corriedale Association Sub Branch, which also involves being on the fedreal council as well.
  • I have a good knowledge of the local area and I hope that some of my experiences will be of benefit to clients. I look forward to meeting you all in the future.
